My journey into nutrition was not a straight line. It had some twists and turns along the way. I came to the US about 15 years ago to do a Masters in Biomedical engineering. I didn’t know how to cook then and found myself eating out way too often. Unhealthy eating led to weight gain and every time I put on some weight, I would look for a quick fix to lose it all. I would either ‘google’ or follow a friend who was trying to do the same. Skipping carbs to lose weight was my belief back then. This cycle of eating out and then skipping carbs became a routine. During those days, I often struggled with acidity, bloating, mood swings and exhaustion but I didn’t give it too much importance.

This went on even when I started working as a researcher. I would be exhausted after work and would often eat out with colleagues and friends and then look for all the easy quick fix diets to lose weight. I realized I couldn’t do this forever and started looking for the right way to eat to keep my weight in the healthy range. I slowly started reading books and articles about nutrition and fitness. The more I read, the more I realized I wanted to pursue this as a career. I really wanted to do something that was related to health and wellness, where I could practice and preach what I strongly believed in. I realized that it was time to take my personal passion and make it professional. I took a break from work and went back to school to pursue Master of Science in Nutrition with a concentration in Obesity and Nutritional Health.

What is Eat Move Unwind ?

Eat Move Unwind is a health and wellness blog, where I would share my approach towards living a healthy life.

We often associate healthy living with unrealistic diets & extreme workouts, thereby putting our bodies through a lot of stress. In reality, healthy living isn’t a quick fix. It is more about building simple healthy habits that can be sustained throughout our lives.
